    I think adding mypy maybe is a bit over the top. Especially the pre-commit hook due to how it works with configurations and dependencies.

    IIRC we've also had issues using cppcheck in the past ?

    I see, but as this is an example I would expect the developer to decide if the hook makes sense or not.
