Display-related scripts have to be reduced
ICS Software Group generally do not like the use of scripts in displays, and especially will not like the ones that change background colours, etc. of widgets. The current displays would never pass any approval process and are forced to be classified as "engineering" interfaces (not to be used by operators and system experts).
The scripts are also making the possibility of both troubleshooting and modularisation of displays overly difficult.
We thus need to cut the scripts down or remove them entirely, and see what can be replaced by either native functionality or through e.g. rules. If scripts are kept for engineering displays, these will also need to be improved; refactored and be more documented for readability/future maintainability.
