E3-93 remove plotdep

Anders Lindh Olsson requested to merge e3-93-remove_plotdep into master

plotdep currently doesn't work, and it also doesn't provide much value as a feature. This MR removes plotdep and all associated targets and functions, and also tidies things up a lil' bit.
