Anders Lindh Olsson requested to merge e3-605 into master

This MR:

  • removes the call to cookiecutter-e3-module; if a submodule is not provided, the wrapper will be set up without any source code (and utilities like makeBaseApp have to be used explicitly)
  • standardises makefile formatting
  • reduces and removes a lot of the template files and code

Note that the cookiecutter tutorial on e3 pages will have to be updated to accomodate for this change.

This MR has been nominated for mob review, and will be discussed in a meeting.
